Abstract In a local newspaper from Brescia, a citizen expresses his regret that the valuable art collection of the noble Fenaroli family is to be auctioned off and thus scattered. The heirs had to auction off the collection because the previous generations had squandered their money. Among the works sold is Thorvaldsen’s relief of Cupid and Ganymede, cf. L’Esposizione artistica al palazzo Fenaroli

[...] Quanto a me un’altra cagione provava di tristezza; io guardava quelle tele, alcune delle quali opere di insigni pennelli [...] e rimpiangeva il fuggirsi da Brescia di quei tesori d’arte. [...] Fra le sculture vi hanno bassi rilievi del Thorwaldsen, il genio della caccia statuetta del Tenerani, la Rebecca del Lombardi e una bagnante del Tantardini ; poi statuette in bronzo, oggetti in avorio ed altri antichi ed una bella collezione d’armi. [...]
