Commemorative poem about Thorvaldsen. He is praised as a victorious poet, to whom work was play, and who won great fame without the slightest vanity. Because he was born and loved in Denmark, he chose to share his fame with Denmark while an astonished Europe praises him.

Lykkelig prise vi ham, den store, den herlige Seirer
Livets Seiers-Idee heelt han udfolded og skjønt.
Kampen var ham en Leeg, og hver hans Kamp var en Seier;
Tusind Krandse han vandt, vidste dog neppe det selv.
Æren fulgte hans Gang, men aldrig tråd han for den:
Formaal var ham Bedrift, ei Bedrifternes Pris.
Danmark Vugge ham gav og Grav og kjærlig Beundring;
Derfor Danmark han gav skjønnest Glands ved sit Navn.
Storheds hædrende Navn forbauset gav ham Europa;
Og Europa han gav Storheds Værker i Arv.
