Comment on A Dispute between two Women about Thorvaldsen and his Posthumous Reputation
Hans Puggaard formed the first committee after his return from the visit to Italy in 1835-1836 (cf. Chr. Bruun and L.P. Fenger: Thorvaldsens Musæums Historie, Copenhagen 1892, p. 7). It is possible that Thorvaldsen had made up the committee in concert with Puggaard. The first committee consisted of the botanist J.F. Schouw (married to Christine Stampe’s sister, Susette Schouw), the theologian H.N. Clausen, the art historian N.L. Høyen, the sculptor H.E. Freund and the official and jurist Jonas Collin.
