• Letter dated 27.8.1840 from F.C. Olsen to Thorvaldsen (the bust is mentioned as finished).
• Carl Frederik Wilckens: Træk af Thorvaldsens Konstner- og omgangsliv, samlede til Familielæsning, Copenhagen 1874, p. 54-55. Wilckens writes that it took Thorvaldsen three hours to model the bust.
