Abstract

Thorvaldsen pays tribute to King Christian VIII six weeks after his accession to the throne. Thorvaldsen excuses himself on the plea that he has been at Nysø and also had a bad foot.

[Dagbog 18.1.1840:]
Conf.raad Thorvaldsen hyldede mig første gang som Konge, da han har været paa Landet i Nysøe og seenest upasselig i Foden. Jeg talte til ham om et Standbillede af Ch. 4. i Roskilde Capel, helst af Bronce forgyldt, men Arbejdere maatte man have fra München.
