Le célèbre sculpteur danois Thorwaldsen y est mort subitement le 24 mars. Il était allé au théâtre royal assister à la première représentation d’une pièce intitulée Griseldis. Il a été frappé d’apoplexie foudroyante dans la stalle où il était assis.
