Abstract

The commentary for this letter is not available at the moment.

6th Went to Cammacinis studio – was pleased with some of his things particularly with his painting of Regulus returning to bondage – on the whole I think him a desidedly good painter with regard to sketching & grouping but his colouring is bad – Thorvaldsen’s studio I saw afterwards; his name is too well known as the first sculptor in Rome to need any comments upon his Genius – it is of the first rate order – his studio is beautiful – –
7th Sunday. Took a walk with Bob Milman & Craning to the top of Monte Marco wh: commands a most magnificent view of Rome & the Campagna bounded by the Mountains about Albano, Mascati & Tivoli –
