I.e. the Crown Prince Frederik (6.), who was the de facto ruler of the country. As mentioned in the note above, the busts were placed at the residence of the Crown Prince not later than the middle of December 1803.
Displaying the busts in the most prestigious quarters was part of the plans to promote Thorvaldsen in Denmark not only in order to get him commissions but also to endorse his continued stay in Rome, as appears indirectly below.
