Thorvaldsen sent home plaster casts of the best-preserved trophies and part of the cornice of the pedestal of Trajan’s Column.
Trajan’s Column is a marble column in Rome, erected in 113 A.D. in honour of the Roman Emperor Trajan (ca 53-117). A frieze on the column illustrates Trajan’s two campaigns against the Dacians in 101-102 and 105-106.
