The proposal Thorvaldsen makes here was realized, but in a somewhat different form: In the end, all sides of the baptismal font were decorated with reliefs:
The Baptism of Christ, A555,1
Mary with Jesus and John, A555,2
Three Hovering Angels, A555,3 and
Christ Blessing the Children, A555,4.
