Comment on Norse Mythology in Thorvaldsen's Art - a Virtually Omitted Motive
This dating is probably based on a date written down on another, corresponding sketch of a coat of arms, C559a. The date is nonetheless uncertain; the sketch could just as well stem from the period around 1839. On the reverse side of the same piece of paper, Thorvaldsen drew an 1832 pencil sketch of Alexander the Great Induced by Thais to Set Fire to Persepolis, C386r.
