Comment on Norse Mythology in Thorvaldsen's Art - a Virtually Omitted Motive

This does not sound like a simple transcription of Thorvaldsen’s own words—though of course, given the limited extent of the sources available, no such thing can be confirmed or denied. On this see also Crown Prince Christian (VIII) Frederik’s letter to Thorvaldsen dated 12.8.1821, where the prince presumably refers to this alleged statement and expresses his doubt as to its correctness.
