Kommentar til 1820
Den italienske kunstsamler Giovanni Battista Sommariva købte den første marmorudgave af Canovas Den bodfærdige Magdalene. Den blev vist ved salonudstillingen i Paris i 1818, og efterfølgende i et dertil indrettet rum i Sommarivas bolig i Paris, jf. Christopher M. S.
