Tilskrift: Til Det Kongelige Akademie for de skjønne Kunster.
Dateringen fremgår af brevet.
Thorvaldsen thanks the Academy of Fine Arts for the information that he has been awarded the Silver Cross of the Order of the Dannebrog.
September s:A:III allernaadigst har værdiget at tilkjende mig Dannebrogsmændenes Hæderstegn.

Albert Thorvaldsen
At the receipt of the favour of the high Academy of Fine Arts of November 4th 1833 I am informed that His Majesty by the highest ordinance of September 22nd the same year most gracefully has vouchsafed to award me the Silver Cross of the Order of the Dannebrog. This has by a for me rather unpleasant neglect by the postal service in Rome only these days come to my hand.
It has therefore been impossible for me earlier to present to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts my sincere thanks for the honourable expressions in which the same informs me of this proof of His Majesty’s highest grace.
Rome, June 21st 1834
Most respectful
Albert Thorvaldsen
