Your Excellency’s favour of August 31st in which I am requested to give information about the recently deceased E.R. West’s art left here in Rome especially as regards the 4 pieces in my custody namely a bust of Tiberius, a smaller one of a faun, a fragment of the cover of a sarcophagus and my own bust, except for these what articles of art which E.R. West obtained here, he brought along with him from here. The bust of Tiberius is life-sized and the bust of a faun half-size. Both these busts and the small fragment of a corner of a sarcophagus of white marble and antique were of mediocre work. My bust which E.R. West commissioned and paid for is being executed in marble and almost finished. The arrangement with him was that I was to forward these articles to Copenhagen when my bust had been finished.
If it should please His Majesty to have these 4 articles sent it can be done without difficulty at the first intimation. The expenses from here to Hamburg amount to 9½ Scudi for 100 [a symbol of a weight unit] which is paid for a transport of 4 figures and several bas-reliefs which I recently sent from my workshop from here by land to Hamburg to continue from there to the destination.
