This greeting in the miniature painter Christian Horneman’s album was written the day before Thorvaldsen went back to Rome, cf. Sojourn in Denmark 1819-20. Thus the greeting was a farewell, and the same day, possibly on the same occasion, he wrote an identical greeting to another, unidentified person. | |
