Abstract

Thorvaldsen has finally received a commission for the marble version of the frieze Alexander the Great’s Entry into Babylon, cf. A503. It has been commissioned by the Italian count and art collector Giovanni Battista Sommariva, who has already paid 8,000 scudi for the purchase of marble.
