See Thorvaldsen’s draft of the 22. of february 1844 to C.F. Holbech in whichs he states, that he is leaving Denmark in April or May.

Andersen: Mit livs eventyr, Copenhagen 1951, Vol. I, p. 265, where Andersen tells about the evening Thorvaldsen died : “Thorvaldsen [...] talte om den Reise han i Sommeren vilde gjøre til Italien [...]”. (i.e. in English: “Thorvaldsen [...] talked about the journey he would do in the summer to Italy [...]” .
H.C. Andersen’s autobiography was originally published in Copenhagen 1855.
