Thiele’s transcripts of Thorvaldsen’s letters, Thorvaldsens Archiv, vol. II, p. 133, 1818, 97. Frances Mackenzie was engaged to Thorvaldsen for a brief period in 1818. The exhortation (Reqŭiescant in pače) is also noted by Thiele on the outside of the accompanying sealed envelope, which contained all the letters from Mackenzie and two from Baron Herman Schubart referring to her as Thorvaldsen’s fiancée. The now empty envelope is in Meldahl’s Box, Thorvaldsens Museum.
