Comment on Flora Italica. When an Italian Flowery Meadow Visited Thorvaldsens Museum
It remains possible that crates from earlier shipments were unloaded at the museum before its opening in 1848, and that the hay in them contributed to the meadow. As it happened, some of the works that were shipped to Copenhagen from 1833 and onwards were stored or exhibited at other sites until they could be moved to the museum. See Frederiksen 2014.
