Also, Koch’s drawing seems to be a preliminary study for his painting Landscape with the Abduction
of Hylas (1832), now held by Städel Museum, Frankfurt. This painting could also have served as a source of inspiration for Thorvaldsen, since here even the nymphs are in the same position as in Thorvaldsen’s work, and Koch mentions his interest in it in a letter.
