Comment on Grundtvig and Copenhagen During Denmark's Golden Age
[Author’s note in the text] Grundtvig’s manuscript “Om Poesie, Kunst og Videnskab”, 1817, establishes that genuine, that is to say visionary, poetry has “distinctive external marks”, which in superficially beautiful writing can be profaned either as “empty clinking and clanking” or as sensuality’s “tasty pork sausages, seductive amusement parks, pompous side-shows, gilded wrappings and the like” (Fasc. 162.1 12r).
