Comment on Facing the artist in Rome. Portraits of Bertel Thorvaldsen
Many thanks to Mary McGuigan for sharing her research into this portrait. The painting does not carry any date, but according to McGuigan’s research, it was probably begun in late 1837 and completed at some point during the first months of 1838.
