Carrighan recommends some Scottish noblewomen of the Gordon-Cumming family who are staying in Rome. He also introduces Frances Mackenzie, who may accompany the others to Thorvaldsen’s workshop. Carrighan emphasizes Mackenzie’s artistic abilities, especially for modelling.

Le Signore Cumming Gordon^I, Dame Scozesi di Razza distinta, stanno per portarsi, unitamente al Fratello^II, all’Eterna Città^III, ed io volendo farle una cosa grata, le procurerei di fare la vostra conoscenza. Io dunque vi raccommando tanto e poi tanto queste amabili Signorine^IV, pregandovi di mostrarle in persona le vostre belle opere, che codeste sono in caso di appreciarle. Può darsi che verranno allo studio accompagnate da un’altra Signora, di nome Mackenzie Seaforth^V. In quel caso anche in favore di lei, che è altrettanto distinta persona, vi pregherei delle vostre amichevoli cure; e tanto più che codesta Signora ha delle grande disposizioni non soltanto per le belle arti generalmente, ma specialmente pel modellare.
Non mi secco punto in questo paese ritirato, ma non per questo lascio di pensare à Roma ed agli amici colà da me abbandonati. Abbandonati però, come lo spero, per un tantino solamente. Poichè, sbrigate che saranno le facende, che m’hanno trasportate costi, non tarderò un momento di tornare per la quarta volta à un Città^VI, che di tutti i luoghi forestieri che mi vengono visitati, è assai più al Genio mio. 1. Det er usikkert, hvilke kvinder af Gordon-Cumming-slægten, der er tale om. Det kunne være Louisa, Helen og/eller Margaret Grace Gordon-Cumming, der var søstre til parlamentsmedlemmet William Gordon-Cumming (1787-1854). Sidstnævnte var i Italien i 1818. Se James Bieri: Percy Bysshe Shelley. A Biography. Exile of Unfulfilled Reknown, 1816-1822, p. 109. En Cumming nævnes også i Mackenzies brev til Thorvaldsen af 11.5.1818.
