Rom d. 10de: Apl: 1838. | Deres hengivne Albert Thorvaldsen |
I thank you, my friend, for your letters, for the first one as well as for the last one with the manifesto from Kunstforeningen [the Art Society of 1825, Copenhagen]. I send you here the promised copy of my will, which has been written by a lawyer of this town, according to the laws of the country and signed with the signatures of seven witnesses and is deposited with a notary; – if changes should be necessary in the native land, we can verbally agree on them.
Now packing up the things I intend to send home I ask you that our consul in Leghorn in time will get the due order to receive the things and furthermore to pay the current expenses.
Besides, I wished to obtain a direct permission to bring a couple of persons with me on the ship.
You would put me still more under an obligation, my friend, by informing me of this as soon as possible.
I send my most friendly regards and I am looking forward to being able soon to thank you in person, precious friend.
Rome, April 10th 1838 | Yours sincerely, Albert Thorvaldsen |
