Holbech acted as a kind of personal assistant to Thorvaldsen during the latter’s stay in Rome in 1841-1842, and he supervised Thorvaldsen’s workshops in Rome after Thorvaldsen had gone back to Denmark.
Thorvaldsen died 24.3.1844, so he did “leave from here” – only in a different way. It is to be hoped that he reached his “Rome”.
