With great pleasure, I most humbly have received your R.H.’s favour of November 25th from which I see that it has pleased His R.M. to order a frigat to the Mediterranean and at Leghorn to embark part of my works, and I shall make use of thise fine opportunity as much as possible. In marble, there is nothing finished to send off but your busts of you and your wife, the two Caryatids, a baptismal stone, which I shall give to Iceland, in plaster Christ and the 12 Apostles with some other things.
I am inexpressibly sorry not yet to have finished the portrait statue of your wife and began it once, but because of illness it has remained and has fallen in, but I shall soon begin it again.
I have conveyed to Mr Freund the paragraph, which your R.M. has written regarding him and he will answer it himself, Mr Bissen diligently demonstrates great talent. I am pleased to hear about the progress the two young sculptors are displaying, there will certainly be no want of a good future for art and its devotees under your R.H.’s protection.
Mr Schmedt has come from Naples some time ago and this talented person has brought a great collection of drawings he has made there, furthermore I have informed him of your remarks regarding his finances which rather pleased him.
I most humbly thank your Royal Highness for the kindness you have shown to keep a small sum for so long, I have taken the liberty on the 9th of last month to write to Mr Aler, the Counsellor, about this, I shall spend the same [?] sum the small capital which I have put away, I shall have cast a monument and have it cast in bronze presenting a chariot drawn by two horses and Victory who leads it, besides I have many other works, which I have made in marble at my own expense, my collection of antique and modern objects of art increases daily so instead of leaving sums of money I hope to leave a big collection of objects of art.
