One of three draft letters, in Thorvaldsen’s own hand, of a fourth draft letter dated 7.2.1827 written by a copyist.
I have received your letter with great delight pleasure, kind Konferenceråd, from which I see you are well and hearty which will always please me inexpressively to hear
I am sorry that I have not everything ready for the Church of Our Lady, so that it would be possible to have this beautiful product in its full splendour
[Translated by Karen Husum]
There exist three more drafts of the same draft letter: One is written and corrected by a copyist, and it probably represents a later stage in the writing process; the other two are written by Thorvaldsen himself but are much more finished than this short fragment. One, however, is more sketchy than the other.
