See, e.g., the letter dated 20.3.1802 from Thorvaldsen to Nicolai Abildgaard, which was clearly written carefully and with great effort, but to which the sculptor nonetheless added a disclaimer, “In Haste,” to forestall dissatisfaction with errors that, for all his exertions, had found their way into the letter nonetheless.
