Comment on Thorvaldsen's Spoken and Written Language
It should be borne in mind that this stylistically perfect German may be a product of Thiele’s reporting. That is, it may have been the biographer who adjusted the citation to correct German; but the content certainly may be regarded as unaltered, and so does indeed bear witness to Thorvaldsen’s linguistic abilities—in foreign languages as well as in Danish.
