Comment on Thorvaldsen's Works at Hams Hall
Since 1997, this confusion about the works’ provenance has expanded to include two other reliefs by Thorvaldsen that were put up for sale at the two auctions mentioned here, namely, Pan and a Satyr, cf. A353, and Bacchante and a Satyr, cf. A355. Both of these reliefs are described as likely deriving from Hams Hall in the catalogue by Grandesso and Skjøthaug, op. cit., p. 284 and p. 285, cat. nos. 455.4 and 423.1.
