Comment on Christian 8.'s Loan from Thorvaldsen
In 1827, Thorvaldsen began sketching this statue of the Goddess of Victory—cf. A48, A49, C328v, C560v—but it was H.W. Bissen who, during the period 31.3.1844-18.9.1848, realized the colossal statue of Victoria with her Quadriga [Four-in-hand], erected on the roof of Thorvaldsens Museum.
