On demand I have sent with Signor Fiodo the ready engravings after my works, as well as Koch’s engraved landscapes – Besides I have taken advantage of this safe opportunity and with Signor Fiodo sent: an account of the late Zoëga’s estate namely two copies so Your Excellency could keep one for your own information, and you could send me the other on my demand certified for my security – To pay off the small sum which I have safe from the estate I have for that purpose enclosed a bill drawn by Captain Huth that is 120 110 Scudi which I have advanced him /: for because of his weak health he has gone to Naples these days :/ If Your Excellency should not find it convenient at present to pay out to me the deficiency on the mentioned bill, I shall be ready to state this outstanding sum on our account. –
I thank Your Excellency most cordially for your very friendly [letter] of March 15th: that with the zeal of friendship you will plead my course with our good King, I am convinced of that; so I should reproach myself if in the least I doubted your kindness for me; But following Your Excellency’s expressed demand to know in what you could directly plead my course – to further my wish to be obtained, then considering the times and the country’s present critical condition I must leave the same entirely to Your Excellency’s best judgment – for to you I need not say: that all that is demanded by an artist is work, that without money an artist stands with his hands tied – I shall finish with my most true wish that soon and happy you may have arrived to the native land, and that you may enjoy as much fortune and success as you ever have the best kindness to promote any good case – I send regards to your dear travelling companions. I ask my compliments conveyed to Her Grace, the kind Baroness. I commend myself
