Copy of Extract
of
a letter of July 16th 1844 from the executors in
Thorvaldsen’s estate to professor Bissen.
On inquiry we have in letter of this day informed messrs Thiele councillor, the solicitor Ricci, and Bravo that Thorvaldsen’s studio will not be continued in Rome, but that the statue of Conradin shall remain there until a more precise decision has been taken.
We think in this respect we have only acted in accordance with the professor’s opinion expressed earlier, but have wanted to inform you about it to give you an opportunity to decide whether other unfinished works by Thorvaldsen should remain in the same place. If this is the case we ask you by return post to write specifically about this to Messrs Ricci & Bravo, who have orders to wait a while for your decision in this respect.
[written in another direction in the left margin:]
Produced in Konferensråd Thorvaldsen’s estate October 23rd 1844.
