[...] The group which the Marquis Canova is doing for the King has several spots on it, this is the third time which he has done it. The first and second he actually threw on one side being very much marked. Thorvaldsen’s Venus for the Duke of Devonshire is very badly spotted, he never changes a figure on account of spots in the marble. [...]
