Esteemed Professor,

With sincere joy I have the pleasure to inform you, my esteemed friend that His Majesty the King has ordered the Building Commission for Christiansborg Palace to invite you to come here to this place. To whom could this be of greater interest than me, who miss your master hand at all my works to give them the weight I flatter myself that you will find them worthy of. This sweet dream I have cherished for long, which now perhaps we may hope could come true. You will, Sir receive the letter regarding this from the Commission by next mail. At least this will convince you about the wish of the King and your fellow countrymen. Although a small country can never offer a person of your known reputation such conditions, which may be considered as reward, we hope that you are ready to make a small sacrifice to see the native land, where you made the beginning of the course, which has given you considerable honour and where you will find an unusually happy receival. By last mail Prince Christian let me know that by the same mail he would write to you. The outgoing mail prevents me from writing further than that I long to see your answer and that I with great esteem remain the Professor’s

devoted and sincere servant,

C F Hansen.

P.S. I beg of you to give my regards to Mr Eckersberg, Malling wrote to him by last post.
