Abstract

Metternich has prepared space for Thorvaldsen’s reliefs Night, cf. A369 and Day, cf. A370, in a pavilion. Of the two he prefers Night. He forwards two prints of the subjects and mentions that Thorvaldsen has made the same reliefs for an Englishman, which is why Dorothea may have seen them already.
