Comment on The country bumpkin and the donkey-rider in the service of art and freedom

Cf. Bacchus offers Cupid a Drink, C844. The drawing is a copy of a drawing by Thorvaldsen with the same motif, C830r. On the reverse side of C844, a note by an unknown hand reads: “Drawn by A. Thorvaldsen in Rome for use by the landscape painter J. Koch in one of his landscapes.” This information, however, has not yet been verified definitively. The same holds for Lutterotti Z 505.
