- Letter dated 24.10.1800 from Thorvaldsen to the Academy of Fine Arts.
- Thiele I, p. 158-159, writes that the model is begun in October 1800, but besides the above-mentioned letter dated 24.10.1800, in which the model is said to be in progress, the basis of this very precise statement is not known.
